Traits and Ecosystems Lab
Our lab seeks to understand how plants shape the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems
About us
We investigate how plant responses to environmental change scale up to drive ecosystem function. Our research spans ecosystems across the Americas—from tropical and temperate forests to the Arctic tundra— to understand the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems across space & time.

Research themes
Plant responses to global changes

We investigate how plants respond to environmental change across diverse ecosystems and climate gradients.
Landscape change & conservation

We study how changing landscapes shape biodiversity and ecosystems to inform conservation.
Plant biodiversity & ecosystem function

We examine how functional traits influence ecosystem processes, across spatial scales..
